Wedding tips: Your photo album
Your big day is coming up and the last thing you have time for is worrying about the photographs. But, when it is over your photo album will be important.
Here’s a checklist from some of our photographers on what will make your wedding a day to remember.
1. Make a list of everyone and every shot you want and go over it with the photographer. Give the photographer a checklist.
2. Go to the wedding locations and make notes of what will happen there and give that to the photographer. Have the photographer arrive early to scout the shots, too. The photographers will want time to scout backgrounds, lighting and what gear they will need.
3. Juan Carlos in Historic Downtown McKinney said that the bride should set expectations for what she wants in her album, and ask to see the photographers previous work.
4. Chuck Choate, who taught photography at Eastfield College, said tell your photographer to never throw away the mistake shots from a wedding. Some of those can be gems.
5. Often two photographers is better than one. If your photographer provides more than one, that will mean fewer photo opportunities are missed.
6. Have the photographer shoot the backs of dresses, shoes, flowers, table settings, the rings, the limos, menus, and any small details. These will bring back memories.
7. Have the photographer turn off the beeping sounds on the camera when possible.
8. If any family members ask, it is OK for them to snap pictures. For your priceless memories, however, don’t count on family to create the album. The pros do it every week and have shot weddings in the rain, remember the extra batteries and won’t forget to bring a camera or (old school: leave the lens cap on. …)
9. Have fun. Let the photographers do the work. And, at the reception, have the photographer display shots of the wedding on a table on a computer screen in a slideshow.
10. Remember to let everyone know about your wedding in your hometown newspaper.
